About

About AdoreKorea

AdoreKorea is an independent English-language travel guide written for people planning their first — or fifth — trip to South Korea.

Why we started

Most English information about Korea is either outdated, translated word-for-word from Korean press releases, or written by people who have never stood at the ticket window. Opening hours change, ferry timetables shift with the season, and a "10-minute walk" can turn into a hill climb in August humidity.

AdoreKorea exists to close that gap. We write about places we have actually visited, with the practical details travellers ask about: how to get there, what it costs, when to go, and what to expect once you arrive.

How we write

  • First-hand where possible. Many of the photographs on this site were taken by us on location, not licensed from stock libraries.
  • Sourced where necessary. Prices, opening hours and transport information are checked against official operator or government sources, and we note the date of the information.
  • Updated, not abandoned. When a fare changes or a venue closes, we revise the article rather than leaving it online.
  • No paid placement. We are not paid by hotels, clinics or attractions to appear on this site. Advertising, where shown, is served by Google and is clearly separate from our editorial content.

Who runs AdoreKorea

AdoreKorea is a small independent project based in the Republic of Korea. It is written and maintained by a Korea-based traveller who spends weekends on trains, ferries and mountain trails so that readers arrive with fewer surprises.

We are always glad to hear from readers — corrections, questions and suggestions for places we should cover are all welcome.

A note on accuracy

Travel information changes quickly. While we check our facts carefully, we cannot guarantee that every price or timetable is current at the moment you read it. Please confirm critical details — especially visa requirements and transport schedules — with the official source before you travel.
