Looking for a beautiful seaside escape from Seoul? Head to Gangneung! There you will find Gyeongpo Beach and the historic Gyeongpodae pavilion, side by side.
Golden sand, blue sea, a mirror-like lake, and cherry blossoms in spring — this place has it all.
And thanks to the KTX train, it is an easy trip from Seoul. Let’s dive in!

What Is Gyeongpodae?
Gyeongpodae is a beautiful old wooden pavilion in Gangneung, on Korea’s east coast.
It has been a famous moon-viewing spot since the Joseon dynasty, hundreds of years ago.
From the pavilion, you can see two beautiful sights at once: Gyeongpo Beach, one of the largest beaches on the East Sea, and Gyeongpo Lake, clear as a mirror. Together, the pavilion, the lake, and the beach make this one of the most loved spots in Korea.
