In Time Out’s 2026 list of the world’s most beautiful buildings, Museum SAN ranked 5th. It is the only Korean building on the list, placed among world wonders like the Taj Mahal and Sagrada Familia.

Museum SAN is a peaceful place of art, architecture, and nature in the mountains of Korea.

What Is Museum SAN?
Museum SAN is an art museum in Wonju, in Gangwon-do province.
It opened in 2013 and was designed by the famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
The name “SAN” stands for Space, Art, and Nature. (It also means “mountain” in Korean.)
The whole place is designed to blend art with the natural landscape. As you walk, you pass gardens, water, stone, and beautiful buildings, one by one.
