What Is Bukchon Hanok Village?
Bukchon Hanok Village is located in Jongno-gu, in central Seoul.
It is between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace.
The village has hundreds of hanok, traditional Korean houses.
Many of them are over 100 years old.
Important: Bukchon is a real neighborhood where people live. It is not a theme park or a museum, so visitors must be respectful.

How to Get to Bukchon Hanok Village (Subway Guide)
The subway is the easiest way to get there.
- Station: Anguk Station
- Line: Line 3 (Orange Line)
- Exit: Exit 2 or Exit 3
- Walk: About 5–10 minutes
From the exit, walk straight and follow the signs to the hanok village.

Visiting Hours (Please Check)
Because so many tourists visit, the village now has visiting hours.
- Open to visitors: About 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Closed to visitors: Evening and night (for the residents’ rest)
- Closed on Sundays in some areas

What Can You Do at Bukchon?
1. Walk the Traditional Alleys
The best thing to do is simply walk and enjoy. The narrow stone alleys and old hanok are very beautiful.
Take your time and enjoy the peaceful mood.
2. Visit the Famous Photo Spots
Seoul has marked several official photo spots in Bukchon.
The most famous is the top of Bukchon-ro 11-gil, with hanok roofs and city views.
Please take your photos quickly and let others have a turn.
3. Wear a Hanbok
Many visitors wear a hanbok (Korean traditional dress) here.
The hanok village and the hanbok make a perfect photo.
You can rent one near Gyeongbokgung Palace nearby.
4. Enjoy the Nearby Areas
Bukchon is close to many other great places.
You can also visit Insadong, Samcheong-dong cafes, and the royal palaces.
It is easy to enjoy all of them in one day.
